§ Divorce
It is an unfortunate fact of life that not all marriages are successful. Once a marriage has broken down, it is necessary to legally dissolve the marriage and this is where we can help.
§ Separation
Even though you may not be married, if a relationship breaks down there may be legal aspects that you need our advice upon. For example, if you jointly own a property you may need assistance on how to resolve the ownership of that.
§ Pre and Post Nuptial Settlements
If you are considering getting married and wish to protect your financial position, we can prepare a Pre Nuptial Agreement on your behalf. Once you are married, we will be able to record the terms of any financial settlement upon separation by way of a Post Nuptial Agreement.
§ Finances and Maintenance
A fair division of family assets including pensions and the matrimonial home must be worked out. In the majority of cases, this is achieved by negotiation between solicitors and agreement between the parties. We emphasise negotiation and agreement rather than conflict and confrontation. The law in relation to pensions can often be complex but we pride ourselves on keeping up to date with the ever changing laws in this area giving you the best possible advice to protect your position.
§ Children
If you are having problems over contact or there are discussions as to where a child should live, again we can help you. Whilst in some circumstances mediation may be appropriate, we can also advise you on your options in making an application to the court. If you have a concern over a paternity dispute or whether you have parental responsibility, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
§ Injunctions
If you are being harassed by a former partner and need the protection of the court, then this is something that we can action for you.
§ Civil Partnership
If you wished to have advice about whether to enter into a partnership or indeed what may happen if the relationship subsequently breaks down, we will be glad to advise having already dealt with a number of cases involving civil partnership dissolutions.
§ Legal Aid
Our offices at Arnold and Long Eaton are able to offer public funding (Legal Aid) subject to your means. Please contact our Arnold or Long Eaton office if you feel you may be eligible for Legal Aid. Our main office in Nottingham city centre does not cover Legal Aid.
