6 tips to make your home more sellable
1. Kerb appeal
is very important. You only get one chance to make a first impression. Wash or repaint your front door, mow lawns and soften up hard standing area with tubs/planters, sweep paths/drives and generally tidy round.
2. De-cluttering
to take away too may personal items will make the prospective purchaser feel less like an intruder and more comfortable. Buying a new home is an emotional decision, and you want potential buyers to be able to visualise themselves in your home.
3. Clean and tidy
before any viewings take place. Your home must be neat and tidy before putting it on the market. Having a weekly cleaning service while selling is probably a good investment.
4. Lighting
can create a whole new feel to a room. Make sure you have lighting in every room, use subtle mood lighting to create the right atmosphere and check all your bulbs work.
5. Pets
should always keep your pets under control. Although you may love your pets, they can be off-putting to other people, and it may be a good idea to ask someone to take a dog out for a walk whilst a viewing takes place as some people may be scared of them.
6. Accessories
can enhance your rooms and create a feeling of tranquility by using harmonious colours. Use mirrors to reflect light and space, and use plants and fresh flowers to bring life and add a natural fragrance.
